K-9 Search and Rescue of Kansas (K9SARK) was formed in the summer of 2005 as an all volunteer group of people dedicated to training themselves and their dogs to National Association For Search And Rescue standards in the true spirit of volunteerism for all communities in need. Our human members come from diverse backgrounds and most have extensive training in law enforcement, military and medical fields. All members are expected to become NASAR SARTECH II certified. Our canine teammates include German shepherds of all sizes and colors, but you don't have to have a Sheperd to join. Besides natural inclination, what we look for in any of our volunteers is a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn.
K-9SARK is a 501c3 with the government as an all- volunteer not- for- profit corporation. None of our volunteers are paid for their services and depend on donations, charitable contributions, and grant opportunities to pay for the expenses incurred to get K-9 teams operational and available for Search and Rescue work.
K-9 Search and Rescue of Kansas' services and skills are available upon request, free of charge, to any community who needs help in finding lost or missing people. We do not self- deploy. K-9SARK works with any law enforcement or emergency management agency that requests our services, and we train hard to integrate with an agency's existing Incident Command structure. All of our members are also Community Emergency Response Team CERT volunteers for Sedgwick County, Ks.
It is our mission to have the training necessary to be a valuable resource to any community in need. If you are a strong committed individual and think you might want to join our team, please go to our information page.
